Welcome to the Cub Scout
out page of the Lisburn and District website. This page will give you some
background as to what Cubs do and hopefully convince you to join in and play a
part.
Cub scouts are young people usually aged between eight and ten and a half. A
group of Cubs (or Pack) usually meet weekly at each of the 12 Groups within the
District. Sometimes they go on trips to places like the zoo, theme parks,
cinema, places of sporting interest, and areas of historical or environmental
interest. Other times you will be able to go camping or on holiday with the rest
of your Pack, which may mean sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor
activities.
There are loads of other exciting, varied and fun things that Cubs Scout do. You
will get a chance to try lots of different activities such as Model Building,
Grass Sledging, Climbing Wall, Night Hikes and Open fire cooking. If you do them
properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform. With over 35
different activity badges to choose from, you will never bored at a Pack
meeting. Don’t just take our word for it, go to http://www.scouts.org.uk/cubs/
and see the fantastic things we and other Cubs throughout the rest of the UK get
up to.
We currently have over 150 Cubs in the District. Each Cub Pack is a member of a
Scout Group and each Scout Group is a member of a District. There are currently
12 Scout Groups in our District from Annahilt to Seymour Hill. We also run annual
District competitions between the Packs such as indoor and outdoor football,
athletics and a quiz.
If you are not already involved in our Movement and would like your children to
take part in the fun and craic of Scouting as a Cub or if you would like to help
out as an adult Leader or helper, please feel free to contact the local
Assistant District Commissioner at cubsadc@lisburndistrictscouts.org.uk.
