Welcome to the Beaver Scout
page of the Lisburn and District website. We hope this page will help to
tell you more about what we are all about and encourage you to come and
join us as we undertake our adventures. Beaver
Scouts are currently the youngest members of the Scouting family. They are
young people aged 6-8 years, who when they meet collectively are known as
a Beaver Scout Colony. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three
months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next
Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months. Easily recognised by their
distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends,
playing games, undertaking a structured and varied badge programme, going
on visits, undertaking arts and crafts and helping others. All of the
Beaver Colonies in Lisburn and District usually meet together once a week.
Our activities also include, meeting interesting people and even
sleepovers, usually held in an approved Scout Hall.
For more information look under http://www.scouts.org.uk/beavers/ We
currently have over 120 Beaver Scouts in the District meeting each week,
mostly during term time. Each Beaver Scout Colony is a member of a Scout
Group and each Scout Group is a member of a District. There are currently
12 Scout Groups in our District. If
you are not already involved in Beavers and would like your children to take
part in the fun of Scouting as a Beaver Scout, or if you would like to
help out as an adult Leader or helper, please feel free to contact the local
Assistant District Commissioner at beaversadc@lisburndistrictscouts.org.uk. |
