Welcome to Lisburn And District Scouts

Hi and a very warm welcome to the website of Lisburn and District Scouts. Whether you are a parent seeking information on one of our 15 local Scout Groups, maybe interested in lending a hand in your local Scout Group, a current member of any our Groups or one of our many leaders, I hope you find what you need.

What is scouting? The purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
This is done by placing the young person in a section of Scouting relevant to his or her age. In each section we use a structured programme of games and learning activities and adventurers to enable each young person to grow. Scouting’s great strength lies in its grassroots. It is locally that Scouts are best able to identify and work directly with those young people most in need.

Scouting offers bridges to a world of social involvement and inclusion through education and activity.
Our method for giving young people the opportunity to learn by doing is called the Programme. The Programme is a continuous progression of training, activities and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting from the age of 4 to 18.
We are currently active in 211 countries and territories with a global membership of over 28 million, with two thirds of the international membership  in developing countries. Within our District there are 15 active Groups stretching from Maghaberry Village to Seymour Hill through Annahilt, Hilden, Lambeg, Hillsborough, Ballymacash, Hillhall, Derriaghy, Old Warren, Central Lisburn and in Beechlawn, Friends and Wallace Schools. Each group offers a fantastic range of activities and events for young people from ages 4-18.

We currently have over 950 members, making us one of the largest uniformed Movements within the City boundaries.

Anyway, Enough of the spin – please come in and browse through our site see just what you or your kids could be getting up. Scouting is for all and just think of all the fantastic adventures you and your kids could be having!!!
