As the Sun rises on our District on the January 1st 2007, a new century of Scouting will begin. For the celebrations during 2007, there will be many ready made events and programme activities, not only for each Group but also the District as a whole. All our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Network Members and leaders will be involved in the biggest and best events our District has ever seen. .

Scouting started nearly a century ago, and today there are 28 million Scouts worldwide, in 216 countries and territories. Within Lisburn alone there is currently over 550 people involved in the Movement and this is growing all the time. The year will be an unforgettable experience and a unique PR opportunity for Scouting in the District and a catalyst for growth.

This page is for parents and leaders alike to plan ahead for this special year we have. It will be updated regularly to set out 2007 dates, events etc and their importance to the Movement.

If you are a parent reading this, make sure your children are involved and watch out for details on this page of the site and information that will be issued via the District leadership. If you are a District leader, keep referring to this page to enhance your programmes planning.

The single theme for all events and activities for the Centenary of Scouting and the 21st World Scout Jamboree is: 2007: One World One Promise.

Join In centenary

Join-in-Centenary is a resource pack full of programme ideas to help every Scout around the world participate in the Centenary of Scouting to the full. Similar to the Join-in-Jamboree packs produced for previous World Scout Jamborees, Join-in-Centenary aims to involve every Scout in the activities and celebrations, even if they are not at the actual events.

Join-in-Centenary is planned to be available in a variety of formats, including hardcopy, CD, and on the Internet. These packs have already been distributed to all leaders within the District. Your child will get the opportunity to wear a unique set of badges, a special centenary scarf and take part in many and exciting challenges – just another good reason to join our Movement!!
